A Locksmith for North Haven Homes
North Haven is a residential village, so the lock work here is mostly home work: waterfront houses, older cottages and larger properties looked after by caretakers. Owners ask us to rekey after buying, to install sturdier deadbolts and high-security locks, to set up keyless entry for staff and family, and to install or open safes.
- Lockouts 24/7
- Rekeying and lock changes after a sale
- Medeco and Mul-T-Lock high-security locks
- Smart locks and keypads for staff access
- Safe installation, opening, repair and combination changes
Getting to Know the Village
North Haven was first settled by Europeans in 1665 and incorporated as a village in 1931. It lies in the Town of Southampton on a peninsula that is essentially surrounded by water, with Noyac Bay to the west, Shelter Island Sound to the north and east, and Sag Harbor Cove to the south. Route 114 enters the village from Sag Harbor over an arched bridge that residents fought to keep in 1999, then runs through North Haven to the South Ferry, which crosses to Shelter Island.
Waterfront Houses and Owners Who Travel
Surrounded by water as it is, North Haven puts its door hardware through steady salt exposure. We replace corroded cylinders and stiff latches and suggest locks that are simple to service when the time comes. Owners who spend winters elsewhere often want a caretaker to have access without a ring of loose keys, so we set up keyless locks with individual codes that can be changed from one season to the next.
When an older house changes hands, the new owner rarely knows who still has keys. We rekey every exterior door, and if a safe came with the house and nobody has the combination, we open it and set a new one. Keys are cut to match the new system, so everyone who should have access gets a working key and nobody else does.
Caretakers, Managers and Home Offices
The business side of North Haven lock work comes mostly from caretaking and property management companies that hold keys to several estates. We set up master key systems so a manager carries one key while each owner’s set stays separate, and rekey when a staff member leaves. Residents who work from home can add a separate office lock, file cabinet locks or a document safe.
