Noyack Locks, From Bay Cottages to Year-Round Homes
Noyack is above all a place where people live: year-round houses, summer cottages and newer homes near the water. That makes most locksmith needs here residential. A cottage lockout, a stiff deadbolt on a side door facing the bay, a rental owner who wants every lock rekeyed between tenants, or a new owner with no idea how many keys are floating around are all typical reasons to call.

Knowing the Neighborhood
Noyack, also spelled Noyac, is a hamlet in the Town of Southampton at the edge of Noyac Bay. Its name is believed to refer to Jessup Neck, the point of land granted to John Jessup in 1679. Today Jessup’s Neck is protected as the Elizabeth A. Morton National Wildlife Refuge, a peninsula that separates Noyack Bay from Little Peconic Bay.
Salt Air and Shut-Up Cottages
Hardware near the bay takes a beating. Salt air works its way into cylinders and latches, and a lock that turned smoothly in June can bind by the following spring. When a key starts to drag, repairing the lock or swapping the cylinder is far easier than forcing it until the key snaps. If it has already snapped, we pull out the broken piece and cut a new key on site.
Cottages that close after the season need a different kind of attention. Before an owner leaves for the winter, we go over the door and window locks, and in spring we can rekey so keys lent to painters or cleaners no longer open the door.
For Rental Managers and Caretakers
People who manage several Noyack rentals or check on closed houses for owners can carry one master key instead of a ring for each property, while tenants hold keys for their own door only. Keypad codes for caretakers can be deleted in spring, and home offices can get file cabinet locks or a safe.
