Locksmith Work in Sagaponack
Sagaponack is a village of large houses, open fields and ocean frontage, and a single property often has several buildings to secure. One estate can include a main house, guest house, pool house, garage and gate, each with its own keys. Our work here centers on keeping all of that under control: rekeying whole properties, building master key systems so the owner carries keys that open everything while staff keys open only what they need, and installing keyless locks so a contractor can be given a code that is deleted when the job ends.
- Lockouts 24/7 at main houses and outbuildings
- Full-property rekeying
- Master key systems
- High-security locks from Medeco and Mul-T-Lock
- Smart and keyless locks
- Safe installation, opening and combination changes, including AMSEC safes
From Potato Fields to a Village
Sagaponack was originally called Sagg, and it incorporated as a village in the Town of Southampton in 2005. Potatoes were the predominant crop for the farmers who first settled the area, and many of the village’s large estates were built on former potato fields. The Sagaponack School, known locally as the Little Red School House, is one of the last active one-room schoolhouses in New York State. On the ocean side, Sagg Main Beach lies on Sagg Main Street.
Keys, Staff and the Off-Season
On big properties, keys spread with time. Housekeepers, caretakers, pool and landscape crews, and contractors all end up holding something, and after a few years nobody can say for certain who can get in. We recommend a full rekey after any staff change, a check of every entry before the house closes for winter, and another rekey before the family or a tenant arrives for summer.
Safes deserve the same care. When someone who knew the combination leaves the household, we change it. When nobody remembers it, we open the safe and set a new one.
For Estate Managers and Caretakers
Many Sagaponack houses are run by an estate manager, a caretaker who looks after several properties, or a rental company. For them, a lost key ring is a business problem across every client. We key each property separately, document which keys open which doors, rekey promptly when an employee leaves, and set up keypad codes that a manager can issue and cancel. Owners who keep a home office or studio on the grounds can have its door keyed apart from the rest of the house, with file cabinet locks for papers.
